Flow Straighteners/Conditioners
The standard ISO5167-1:2003 specifies the upstream straight pipe lengths required to condition the flow for each major class of DP device. There are times when these lengths simply cannot be achieved in practice. Where it is considered necessary to moderate the loss in accuracy that results in such cases, a Flow Conditioner or Flow Straightener can be used.
A Flow Straightener will remove swirl and a Flow Conditioner attempts to restore the flow velocity profile to a standard shape. ABB offer one of each type as standard :
