2008-01-28 - Effective February 1, 2008, ABB Inc. announces a general price increase of 15% for all medium voltage ANSI OEM indoor apparatus equipment in the US market. This includes load interrupter switches, indoor circuit breakers, and abbreviated switchgear.
The OEM indoor apparatus team is committed to growing the ANSI OEM business and therefore, we would like to stress to our customers that we are their partner and are working to keep their costs low, even if that means we must absorb the commodity cost increases from our vendors. Unfortunately, cost escalation of key raw materials remains an ongoing and serious concern. Even with ABB's significant global purchasing power, we continue to struggle with cost increases, which affect our transportation, packaging, and processes. While we continue to make every effort to reduce our costs, we now find it necessary to increase the prices of our products to remain a viable supplier. ABB will continue to deliver the highest quality and value to our customers in this unique time of cost escalation.
Additionally, ABB is investing in manufacturing technology and product innovation to ensure the highest value is delivered to customers worldwide. A full line of abbreviated switchgear frames have been added to our product portfolio, and in an attempt to meet our customer's expectations, our product offering will cover an ever expanding wide variety of both ANSI and IEC products.
ABB will apply this price increase to all new quotations. ABB will honor the prices on existing orders and quotations through their validity date.
Customers will be notified separately of the specific impact to them. Please contact your local ABB representative with any questions.
