ABB Building Systems to electrify the 2004 boat show

2003-04-15 - ABB Building Systems has been appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to carry out the electrical modification programme for The London International Boat Show 2004, which is to take place at the London Dockland’s exhibition centre ExCel.

During the course of 2003 ExCel will undergo a venue development programme to enhance the current infrastructure, with a focus on reinforcing ease of access for boats of all sizes and the commissioning of an additional 10,000 sq m hall making the 2004 show the biggest event to date. ABB Building Systems electrical modification programme will take place over a nine-month period and will work around the current exhibition programme so as to avoid any disruption. ABB Building Systems is very familiar with the demands of working in ExCel’s large structure as it carried out all the electrical contract work when the exhibition centre was originally constructed.

Partially built over the water of Royal Victoria Dock, ExCel is the only venue in the UK that can accommodate seagoing vessels alongside its exhibition halls enabling them to be displayed in their natural environment as well as within the exhibition halls themselves.
