ABB is selected to supply eight hydro-generators to China

ABB is chosen to supply eight 700-megawatt generators for hydro-electric power project on the Yangtze River ('Three Gorges').

ABB, the international electrical engineering company, has been selected to supply eight 700-megawatt generators as part of the first batch of power generation equipment for a major hydro-electric power plant, known as the 'Three Gorges' project situated on the Yangtze River. The remaining 6 generators of the first batch have been placed with other suppliers.

The contract award will be signed shortly at an official Signing Ceremony with high Chinese Officials in Beijing.

The state-owned customer is The China Yangtze Three Gorges Project Development Corporation. The value of the ABB related award is approximately US$ 250 million. The first generators are scheduled for installation in early 2002 with power deliveries commencing in 2003.
