First factory in China to produce preinsulated pipe systems for district heating.
Zurich, Switzerland, March 4, 1996 - ABB, the international electrical engineering company, today announced the formation of a new joint venture in China to manufacture preinsulated district heating pipe systems for the Chinese market. The company, named Beijing ABB District Heating Equipment Company Ltd, is 75 percent owned by ABB and 25 percent by Beijing TJN Environmental Technology Development Company Ltd (TJN). It will be located in the Beijing Economic Technology Development Zone, 15 kilometers south of the center of Beijing, and will initially employ approximately 60 people.
The joint venture will specialize in the design, manufacture, marketing and sales of district heating pipe systems to meet the fast growing demand for the modernization and extension of Chinas district heating networks. The new company will use ABB`s latest technology in this field to produce advanced systems for industrial customers and district heating utilities. Through high thermal efficiency and optimized use of available energy, these state-of-the-art heating systems will contribute significantly to improving local living standards and lowering impacts on the environment.
