2008-05-21 - In ABB's continued effort to support the community, the ABB Foundation donated $5,000 to the Pee Dee Coalition.
The Pee Dee Coalition is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to the reduction of rape, family violence, child abuse, and to the needs of its victims.The Pee Dee Coalition believes the reduction of family violence, rape, and child abuse is a community issue. The money the ABB Foundation donated will be used for education and early intervention throughout different schools.
It was Debbie Rembert, Human Resources Manager for the ABB Power Products Medium Voltage (PPMV) factory in Florence, South Carolina, that suggested the Pee Dee Coalition submit a grant request to the ABB Foundation. In turn, they asked her to serve on their Board of Directors. Her term will start in May, where Rembert will help Pee Dee work on their HR polices and procedures. "I'm excited to be able to contribute", said Rembert.
Whether by providing relief to victims of a natural disaster, or funding a local program in a community when ABB operates, The ABB Foundation changes lives. The money that the ABB Foundation contributed to the Pee Dee Coalition is proof of just that. ABB is committed to supporting the communities where its people live and work.
