Three contracts worth $2.5 million
Sydney, Australia, 26 November, 2003 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced today it had won its third contract with Clough for Origin Energy’s new BassGas project in Victoria, to supply analytical equipment including gas chromatographs and gas sampling systems for the project’s onshore gas plant.
The two earlier contracts involved supplying ABB MNS/INSUM low voltage intelligent motor control centres, including the 16-panel switchboard that is the backbone of the electrical distribution system on the unmanned offshore platform, and a complete, prefabricated main electrical switchroom for the onshore refinery. This is fitted with a further two MNS/INSUM low voltage intelligent motor control centres.
Together, the three contracts are worth more than $2.5 million.
The BassGas project includes an offshore platform located in the Yolla field 147 kms off the Victorian coastline in Bass Strait; a subsea pipeline to a shore crossing near Kilcunda, a 32km underground raw gas pipeline to an onshore gas plant at Lang Lang (80km south east of Melbourne) and a 30km underground sales gas pipeline that will connect into the principal Victorian gas transmission pipeline near Pakenham.
The project will supply 10 per cent of Victoria’s gas demand for 15 years. It is on schedule to deliver first gas in the second quarter of 2004 and be fully operational by September the same year.
