Launched in July, photographers were invited to exercise their imagination and talents to portray one or more of ABB three main business themes, focusing on how the company’s vast array of products, systems, solutions and services 1) Improve the reliability of power grids, 2) Raise industrial productivity, and 3) Increase energy efficiency.
Twenty-five winning pictures were chosen from 16 countries. The winning pictures were selected from 450 picture entries submitted from 38 countries. Two 'best in category' winners were awarded in the Power grid reliability and Energy savings categories. Each winner won $500. The two 'best in category' winners won an additional $1000 each.
The winning photographs will be used to communicate and promote ABB’s key business themes in printed materials, on ABB Web sites, and in the group’s media library.
ABB has run similar competitions in 1999, 2000 and 2004. Photographers were invited to interpret themes such as, “Life around ABB,” and “What is Knowledge?” and “ABB’s Business Principles.”
