2008-04-15 - This is part of ABB’s goal to strengthen local support and customer relations for OVR reclosers in Central and South America, and other Spanish speaking countries.
On April 9-10, 2008, Power Products Medium Voltage (PPMV) hosted the second OVR recloser and PCD relay class customer training class in Spanish in Lake Mary, Florida. The class included all training manuals, catalogues, and instruction books in Spanish. The class is aimed at showing our customers and local support personnel how to utilize and demonstrate OVR recloser features and capabilities.
The training was divided into a two day event, with the first day focused on basic information and demonstrations of the OVR and PCD technical features and capabilities. On day two, factory personnel provided the class with practical, hands on exposure to OVR reclosers, including troubleshooting techniques and a Q&A session.
Additionally, this year ABB presented a section on communication and SCADA by demonstrating real time communication between a PCD and an RTU unit. The customers were particularly impressed by this and even commented that the competition does not offer this type of training.
We had the pleasure of hosting several customers from ELMEORO (Ecuador), Cia Minera Atacocha (Peru), and EDEESTE (Dominican Republic), in addition to many of our ABB colleagues that provide support for OVR reclosers and PCD relays in the markets of Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. Ciro Gomez was also present to represent ABB's Miami office with a great presentation on loop schemes and feeder automation. German Rico, Director of Sales for Central and South America, met with the customers and ABB colleagues to show full support of the initiative and added that this is an important business function for maintaining the growth of our business in Central and South America.
